Breaking: Enugu State Indigenes Demand For Governorship Debate

With the outcome of the just concluded primaries in Enugu state which has presented the state with three governorship options come 2019, the citizens of Enugu have never relented on their demands for a political debate among the three governorship flag bearers for competency, qualifications and credibility checkups.

In the debate, the candidates will officially present their manifestos and show the entire state what and how they wish to run the state for the next four years. The presentation will equally give everyone a chance to ask the candidates salient questions on leadership and goals or visions for the state.

Below are the candidates for the 2019 governorship race in Enugu state.

Bede Chukwuekezie
Bede Chukwuekezie


Born in Inyi, Oji River LGA of Enugu state. Bede is a seasoned technocrat, a charity volunteer, public policy analyst.

Bede obtained Bachelor of Arts from University of Ibadan and Bachelor of philosophy from Urban University Rome. Bede studied in university of Bedfordshire where he obtained masters of science in human resource management and is currently a member of the chartered institute of personnel and development(CIPD) London, before proceeding to University of South Wales for his doctoral research. Mr Bede, is the chief proponent of “info-forensic management”, a type of leadership he is proposed in his doctoral Thesis for organisational control of the knowledge workers.

Bede was the National vice president and social director of NAPS during his university days. He participated in many leadership conferences and humanitarian services both in Nigeria and United kingdom.


Ayogu Eze
Ayogu Eze

Born 23 November 1958) was elected Senator for the Enugu North constituency of Enugu State, Nigeria, taking office on 29 May 2007. He was a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Eze obtained a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and started work as a journalist. He became an Enugu State Commissioner, Special Adviser to the Governor, and Special Assistant to the Governor. After being elected to the Senate he was appointed to committees on Police Affairs, National Planning, Information and Media and Federal Character & Inter-Government Affairs.

The former senator nursed the ambition of running for the governor of Enugu State in the 2015 general elections under the umbrella of the PDP. However, he lost the primary election to the incumbent governor of the state Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. Th primary election which was riddled controversies ended in series of legal actions. However, he lost both at the Appeal Court and at the Supreme Court.

Currently, Ayogu Eze has defected to APC under which platform he is contesting for the governorship race.

Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi

Ugwuanyi was born in March 1964 and hails from Orba Town in Udenu Local Government Area of Nsukka Zone in Enugu State. He attended St. Theresa’s College Nsukka. He holds Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Business Administration from University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

popularly known as “Gburugburu” is a Nigerian politician who was elected the Executive Governor of Enugu State in April 2015 and was sworn in on 29 May 2015. He was a member of the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for 12 years. He is a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) member and represented Igboeze North/Udenu Federal Constinuency of Enugu State. Ugwuanyi was elected governor of Enugu State under the PDP.
